![]() Though that is a little unfair because the Ampere architecture at the heart of the RTX 3050 is fundamentally better than that of the Turing GPU at the heart of the GTX 1660 Ti. ![]() We rightly castigated AMD for essentially giving us a worse version of the RX 480 nearly six years later, but you could say Nvidia has done only marginally better by just stepping one generation back to slightly better than GTX 1660 Ti performance. You could say Nvidia has pulled a similar move to AMD in creating a new graphics card with the same performance as that of a previous generation for effectively the same amount of money. (Image credit: Future) How does the RTX 3050 stack up? It's also not as effective a solution as Nvidia's hardware-based DLSS tech. But its severely restricted frame buffer means game performance is still pretty weak even with FSR enabled. The same was true of the RX 6500 XT, with FidelityFX Super Resolution, too. So, while the benchmarks highlight where the RTX 3050 is more or less akin to the GTX 1660 Ti in terms of its straight gaming performance, there is the promise of DLSS working those Tensor Cores to actually make the card a pretty capable 1440p gaming GPU where the technology is enabled. Though, as more and more games are shipping with the technology, and a wider breadth of hardware supports it, it always has to be a consideration when we talk about the overall package of a new release. As such we don't traditionally test with DLSS or FidelityFX Super Resolution enabled. ![]() Our standard game benchmarks are always carried out without any form of resolution output modifiers to get an idea of the raw performance of any new GPU. ![]() (Image credit: Future) How does the RTX 3050 perform? Though that runs on a thinner 128-bit aggregated memory bus compared with the GTX 1660 Ti's 192-bit bus, which is why you end up with less memory bandwidth as a result. Along with that extra 10W, you also get another 2GB of GDDR6 memory for a total of 8GB. The RTX 3050 has a similar total graphics power (TGP) compared with the GTX 1660 Ti, too, with 130W vs. The RT cores are what allow for ray tracing and the Tensor Cores then allow you to enable DLSS to make ray tracing actually playable at a decent frame rate, all thanks to the magic of AI-powered super sampling. It's those last two specs that separate the RTX 3050 from its GTX 1660 Ti brethren and ought to make it a far more tempting choice for the mainstream gamer. Those 2,560 CUDA cores in the RTX 3050 are split between 20 SMs which also then delivers 20 RT cores and 80 Tensor cores. That's something which will likely come into play when it comes to manufacturing and the numbers of GPUs that each company can produce to fulfil the demand for their cards. It is also notable that AMD's latest GPU, the Navi 24 silicon inside the RX 6500 XT is a 107mm2 chip, while the GA106 is something in the region of 276mm2. It does though have almost double the number of transistors at its heart and, thanks to the excellent Ampere architecture it comes with over one thousand more shaders inside it. The GA106 GPU Nvidia reportedly has at the heart of the RTX 3050 is a smaller version than that used in the RTX 3060 which makes it roughly the same size as the chip used in the old GTX 1660 Ti.

The cover comes in black, "merlot," and "walnut" finishes, and it adds a further 3.8 ounces (107g) to the total weight of the reader. The good news is that the Oasis' included charging cover allows it to last for another six weeks for a total of two months of battery life. One downside of that lighter, thinner design is that the Oasis by itself won't last as long as the other Kindles-Amazon says it will last about two weeks on a charge rather than a month. At its thinnest point, the reader is 0.13 inches (3.4mm), the bump is 0.33 inches (8.5mm) thick, and the reader weighs 4.6 ounces (131g). ![]() The Oasis changes things up again, switching to an asymmetrical design that you flip over if you want to switch the hand you're holding it in there's also a raised bump on the back to make holding the reader more comfortable. That design slowly replaced the old QWERTY keyboard non-touch versions starting around 2011 or so and had completely replaced the keyboarded Kindles by the time the Kindle DX was retired a couple of years later. The Apple of Eden actually inspired Altair to make the change, so later assassins would not need to lose a finger. It wasn't until then and after Altair's ascension to Mentor that the Hidden Blade was redesigned, but this wasn't just the spark of creative invention. About 1100 years or so pass between Origins and the first game, but by then, the Hidden Blade was an operative part of the Hidden Ones as they transitioned into the Assassins. This began when Bayek accidentally severed his ring finger with his own hidden blade during the events of Assassin's Creed Origin. RELATED: Assassin's Creed Ragnarok Special Edition Could Give Players Awesome CollectibleĪn early Assassin tradition, prominent in the original Assassin's Creed game but dismissed well before Assassin's Creed 2, was the removal of the finger for the use of the Hidden Blade. Eventually, the Hidden Blade would be passed on to Aya and then to her husband, Bayek. It was used by Darius to assassinate King Xerxes around 500 BCE, while Alexios or Kassandra would use a type of "Proto-Hidden Blade" in Leonidas's Spear. Despite this, and perhaps because of this, the Hidden Blade has a longer and more vibrant history in Assassin's Creed than one might imagine.Īssassin's Creed Odyssey, the oldest chronological entry in the franchise, explains the very first instance of a Hidden Blade use. It is the defining attribute of an Assassin, with the formula only being slightly meddled with over the years. Release tension in string to lock it into whatever mode it is in!
